I'm getting out to ride more frequently now. April was one of the rainiest months on record around here but I did manage to log 290 road miles. Some days I ride the hills northeast of Ada, other days I select longer rides on relatively flat courses. My longest ride has been 65 miles -- my Canadian friends will call that a metric century.
This time of year there is lots of wildlife and wildflowers out in the country and I'm prone to stop every now and then just to take a picture of some of the roadside beauties.
I'm breaking in the hard leather of my Brooks saddle, and at the same time it is conditioning me to be appreciate it -- for it will be my "home" for most of August.
The fundraising has gone blessedly well with 117 donations totaling $16,500 for poverty relief on my behalf by the first of May. This has strongly confirmed for me that extending myself in this for poverty relief is pleasing to God; and this is a most satisfying motivation.
So, I'll keep training and counting my blessings and looking forward to the coming remarkable experience. And, oh, yes, in the meantime I am still accepting financial donations for the Sea to Sea cause of cycling to end poverty: Support Doug on Sea to Sea
